Pablo Zárate is a Managing Director in the Strategic Communications segment at FTI Consulting. He is the co-head of the segment’s team in Mexico, focusing on public affairs, advocacy, and corporate reputation.

Mr. Zárate joined FTI Consulting in Washington D.C. and eventually moved back to his native Mexico City, founding the Strategic Communications segment’s offering in the country.

Mr Zárate’s practice within FTI Consulting focuses on public affairs – the intersection of policy, politics and media – and corporate reputation. During his time at FTI Consulting, Mr. Zárate has provided advice to and managed corporate and issue-based campaigns for a broad range of clients considering Mexico-related opportunities within the industrials and energy sectors, from leading Mexican groups to Fortune 100 companies. He has also developed and managed communications and rapid response platforms for leading trade associations in Mexico, acting as chief spokesperson.

Mr. Zárate writes a weekly policy analysis column for El Economista and has been a member of the editorial committee for several leading media outlets in Mexico City.

Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Mr. Zárate served as advisor and lead speechwriter for the Secretary of Energy of Mexico, and as an advisor to the Undersecretary of Energy Planning. In the political consulting arena, he has advised candidates and incumbents at the state and local level in Mexico.

Mr. Zárate holds an M.A. from the School of Media and Public Affairs at The George Washington University and a B.A. in Economics from Mexico’s Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de Mexico (ITAM), as well as a B.A. in Political Science, also from ITAM.
