Kerstin Duhme is a Senior Managing Director in the Strategic Communications segment at FTI Consulting, and is based in Brussels. She heads the Brussels energy, transport and environment practice and has extensive know-how in developing and executing political communications strategies.

Kerstin has run multiple advocacy campaigns on high profile societal issues such as shale gas, waste, pesticides and GMOs, and has also worked on several friendly and hostile transactions. She also provides government relations and public affairs counsel to clients in a variety of sectors including oil and gas, renewables, packaging, materials, chemicals and agriculture.

Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Kerstin was an election campaigner for the Green party and worked for German MEP Elisabeth Schroedter in the German Bundestag and European Parliament, with a focus on sustainable development. After a decade working in politics, Kerstin gained unrivalled insights into political dynamics and the thinking of politicians and political opinion formers.

Having been active within the Green and NGO movement for more than ten years, Kerstin moved into strategic consulting and has played a leading role in FTI Consulting Brussels helping C-suite business clients achieve their goals. As a result, she has a vast and diverse network of business and political relationships that she regularly engages with. One of her focus areas includes developing dialogue between very different players and creating room for open debate to the benefit of her clients as well as for FTI Consulting’s wider thought leadership programme.

Kerstin clients (both past and present) include Bayer, LyondellBasell, Total, KWS, Honeywell, Tetra Pak, TAP, SolarPower Europe, Anglo American. She created Shale Gas Europe, a European industry platform which won the EMEA Gold Sabre Award in the B2B energy and natural resources category and was also short-listed for the global Sabre award.

Kerstin holds a master’s degree from the Rheinische Friedrich Wilhelms University Bonn in American, English and Hispanic Philology, as well as a master’s degree in European Administrative Management from the Berlin School of Economics and Law. Prior to her graduation, Kerstin received a scholarship from Mount Holyoke College, Massachusetts.
