FTI Consulting Launches Geopolitical Intelligence Practice in Latin America
Washington, Oct. 5, 2016 — FTI Consulting, Inc. The practice, which includes professionals from the Company’s Forensic & Litigation Consulting and Strategic Communications segments, provides high-end political and policy analysis, bespoke consulting and corporate advisory solutions for a wide range of corporate and financial clients.

The Geopolitical Intelligence practice in Latin America will offer solutions for clients in two key forms:

- Bespoke Consulting Solutions: Customized intelligence solutions to answer almost any regional or industry question. Sergio Díaz is a Senior Managing Director of Forensic and Litigation Segment at FTI Consulting in Mexico City. Mr. Diaz collaborates with the Geopolitical Intelligence practice. Mr. Díaz has more than 15 years of consulting experience, specializing in business intelligence, corporate investigations, fraud investigations, economic analysis, political and social analysis, security assessments, market research, public opinion research, risk management assessment, and strategic planning. Working as an analyst and project manager with public and private companies and governments has provided Mr. Díaz with a wealth of experience in developing new products and service lines and in helping to resolve complex corporate business issues. Mr. Díaz is a regular commentator on political risk and business-related issues for both print and broadcast news outlets and is a professor of International Security at Universidad Anahuac in Mexico City.
Andrés Gómez is a Managing Director at FTI Consulting in Bogota, Colombia. Mr. Gómez leads the Strategic Communications segment in Colombia and collaborates with the Geopolitical Intelligence practice. Mr. Gómez has more than two decades of experience in journalism and strategic communications consulting. He has worked at several major Colombian newspapers and magazines and served as a Communications Adviser during the administration of Bogotá Mayor Antanas Mockus Sivickas. His expertise has been instrumental in a number of issues, such as crisis management, mergers and acquisitions, public affairs, and corporate matters for companies spanning a wide variety of sectors, such as technology, health, financial, education and consumer products, , among others. Mr. Goméz has worked with clients throughout Latin America, and particularly in Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador and Honduras.
Diego Cano is a Managing Director at FTI Consulting in Argentina. Mr. Cano leads the Forensic & Litigation Consulting segment in the country. He has more than 20 years of experience in advising on the prevention and investigation of fraud, corruption controls and political risk analysis. Mr. Cano is an expert in political risk assessment and analysis reputation in the financial sector, advising clients of the world’s major banks. His experience includes developing a tool called “Active Listening Social Networks”, which analyzes the political risks of his clients. He currently writes on topics related to corruption and political analysis. In 2010 he published the book “Anti-Fraud” and will soon publish a book entitled “The Age of Misinformation.”
Cynthia Catlett is a Managing Director at FTI Consulting in São Paulo, Brazil. Ms. Catlett is a member of the Global Risk & Investigations Practice within the Forensic & Litigation Consulting segment. With more than 13 years of investigative consulting experience, she routinely serves as a trusted advisor to corporations, audit committees, special committees of boards of directors, financial institutions and law firms. She conducts corporate investigations involving allegations of fraud or corporate corruption, due diligence investigations, political risk assessment and dispute-related inquiries. Ms. Catlett’s vast industry experience includes clients across multiple industries including oil and gas, retail, energy, pharmaceutical, chemical, manufacturing, consumer goods, food and drugs, financials, communications. Ms. Catlett’s clients also include governments and multilateral and non-profit organizations with global operations.
Gavin Parrish is a Managing Director at FTI Consulting in Houston. Mr Parrish has worked across Latin America for more than 20 years and has lived in Mexico, Argentina and Brazil. Mr. Parrish frequently oversees engagements that include political risk analysis combined with investigations and intelligence gathering in Latin America, including in connection with U.S. and local governmental investigations. Mr. Parrish is a frequent presenter at conferences on political risk in Latin America, investigations and anti-corruption compliance.
