Akiko Miyake is a Senior Director in the Technology practice of FTI Consulting, and she is based in Shanghai.
Ms. Miyake advises clients on matters involving complex U.S. federal and state litigation, product liability litigation, and securities and cartel investigations in the EU. Her clients include major Japanese manufacturing companies, Chinese state owned entities and global financial institutions. In her role, Ms. Miyake has managed and coordinated numerous multi-language electronic discovery projects, and performed targeted analysis on the keywords of data sets, and contributed to minimising review costs for corporate clients by utilising analytics tools. Throughout her career, Ms. Miyake has played an integral role in planning and organising document reviews conducted in Japan and China, and she has facilitated communication between litigation counsel and the legal department of corporate clients.
Additionally, Ms. Miyake has experience in other aspects of litigation, and has provided strategic advice to U.S. counsels during depositions of Japanese corporate witnesses in a large scale global cartel litigation. She has participated in various depositions of Japanese corporate witnesses, providing advice on the legal implications of the interpretations of the witnesses’ statements, translations of the exhibits and the cultural background of witnesses.
Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Ms. Miyake was an Associate at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer where she focused on M&A, joint ventures and antitrust investigations. She has managed legal due diligence projects on a regional level and coordinated various projects with law firms spread across 36 jurisdictions.
Ms. Miyake received her B.A. in Law from Waseda University, her L.L.M from the University of San Diego School of Law, and she has been a member of the New York Bar. She speaks English, Japanese and Dutch.
